Annie's Volunteer Day at the Holiday Bible Club - The Greatest Journey

Annie Ngemi, our Business Coordinator, volunteered at Rayners Lane Baptist Church. She was buzzing with excitement as she prepared for one of the highlights of the Church’s year: their annual Holiday Bible Club - The Greatest Journey! Their halls were filled with the energy and laughter of children from the local communities.

Annie was thrilled to use her 1.5 volunteer days to be a part of this charity event, and it was an experience she will cherish. Stepping away from her usual role as Business Coordinator and into volunteering at the Holiday Bible Club was inspiring, as she could give her time back to her community.

  • Captivating Bible stories: The incredible events of Holy Week were brought to life in ways that were accessible and meaningful for the young minds gathered around her.

  • Lively songs and games: What’s a journey without music and fun? They sang, played, and laughed together, building companionship and reinforcing the day's lessons. The joy was contagious.

  • Creative crafts and drama: It was a delight to see the children express their creativity and immerse themselves in the story through hands-on activities. Helping them with their crafts was a particular highlight of Annie’s day.

  • Friendly discussion: In a safe and welcoming environment, they encouraged children to ask questions and share their thoughts. It was beautiful to see them connect with the material in their own unique ways.

The goal for this day was to provide a fun, safe, and supportive space where children can learn about God's truth, build new friendships, and experience the joy of being part of a church community.

Serving her community

The Holiday Bible Club is one of her favourite ways to serve and connect with the families of Harrow, Brent, and Hillingdon. For Annie, it was a true privilege to step out of the office and directly support her community, meeting the wonderful children and dedicated parents who make up her neighbourhood. Seeing this community come together, through the children who attended, her fellow volunteers, and the families who entrusted their little ones to her, was a beautiful reminder of what volunteering is all about.

Her 1.5 volunteer days were filled with fun, faith, and friendship.

At LHC, our commitment to social value is at the heart of what we do. We live our values by empowering our employees to shape and deliver social value in the communities where they live and work. Our staff are given 1.5 days of paid leave to volunteer for a registered charity, and we take great pride in their collective efforts to support causes close to their hearts. If you would like to learn more about our social value initiatives, please get in touch with our team for further information.
