Highlights from Our Summer Conference

Our recent Summer Conference on Fire Safety, Disrepair, and Modernisation was a great success, bringing together industry experts, professionals, and stakeholders to discuss vital topics shaping the built environment. Here are some of the key highlights from the event:

 

Keynote Speech by Paul Nash - Former President and Fellow of the CIOB:

 

Paul Nash, a notable figure in the industry as the former president and a fellow of the CIOB, delivered an insightful keynote speech on building safety: compliance, competence, and culture change. Drawing from his extensive experience, he shared compelling case studies and emphasised the importance of meeting safety requirements and upholding legal standards in the built environment.

 

Keynote Speech by Dorota Pawlowski - Trowers and Hamlins:

 

Dorota Pawlowski delved into tackling the rise of claims regarding housing conditions by exploring relevant legislation and strategies to address emerging challenges in housing conditions. Her expertise shed light on crucial legal considerations for ensuring safe living environments.

 

Panel Discussions:

Our event featured two engaging panel discussions:

 

  • How can we make our buildings fire-safe/proof? Lessons learned so far.
  • Better to prepare than end up in disrepair.

 

The panellists included Paul Nash - Former President and Fellow of the CIOB; Ismail Alsayed - Clarion HG; Keith Todd -Ridge and Partners; Dorota Pawlowski - Trowers and Hamlins; Gemma Peglar -Mulalley, Paul Smith -LHC and Paul Dawson - LHC PG who shared valuable insights. They discussed the importance of proactive measures and continuous improvement in enhancing building safety. They also emphasised the need for a culture of compliance and competence in the industry.

 

Networking Opportunities:

Attendees had the chance to network over breakfast and lunch, fostering valuable connections, sharing knowledge, and building relationships within the industry. Our networking sessions provided a platform for collaboration, idea exchange, and professional growth.

 

Exhibitors:

Attendees had the opportunity to explore stalls set up by our appointed companies under our Fire Safety (FS2) and Refurbishment & Modernisation (RM3) frameworks and attendees had the chance to speak to them.
