Key Highlights from LHC’s AGM and Modular Buildings Event
This September, LHC hosted our public sector clients and industry experts at The Cumberland Hotel in Marble Arch for our AGM and Modular Buildings event. The day provided a dynamic forum for exploring how we can deliver essential buildings faster, more efficiently, and in line with net-zero ambitions. The answer, as demonstrated throughout the event, was the strategic implementation of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).
Here’s a recap of the key discussions and insights.
Collaboration and strategic updates

The morning began with a networking breakfast, building connections before our formal programme commenced. The agenda kicked off with an LHC committee meeting, chaired by our Director, Rory Evans. This session offered LHC committee members valuable strategic updates.
Navigating a changing landscape

We then shifted focus to the critical industry developments shaping public sector procurement and construction.
- New Procurement Act 2023: Sima Khatun, Regional Procurement Manager at LHC, provided a clear breakdown of the New Procurement Act 2023, clarifying its objectives and what it means for procurement professionals moving forward.
- The value of the Gold Standard: Chris Hurley, Technical Support Officer at LHC PG, presented on the importance of our Gold Standard Verification, explaining how it drives quality, ensures value for money, and embeds social value for both clients and suppliers.
Networking:

Over breakfast and lunch, attendees networked with industry peers, exchanged ideas, and gained valuable insights to advance their projects.
What was on the menu?

A delicious lunch, featuring:
- Halloumi & courgette skewers
- Chicken skewers

Keynote speech by Martin Harvey, McAvoy
Martin Harvey, Head of Design and Technical Services at McAvoy, gave a keynote speech on how technology is advancing Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) production and supporting net-zero targets.
He detailed the role of off-site manufacturing in not only improving speed and quality but also as a critical enabler for achieving net-zero targets. His practical, five-step roadmap to net zero offered a clear and actionable strategy for organisations to follow.

Exhibitors & filming

Public sector attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with the expert suppliers appointed to our Modular Buildings (MB3) framework during the networking session.
Key highlights of the day were also captured on camera.
A collective step forward
Ultimately, this event brought together public sector decision-makers with leading industry experts, reinforcing a shared commitment to transforming the built environment.
The discussions confirmed that through collaboration, we can overcome traditional constraints and accelerate the delivery of better, more sustainable public buildings.
The Modular Buildings (MB3) framework
The event highlighted a clear market need: traditional construction can often be slow to meet the urgent demands for education and healthcare facilities. Modular construction presents a viable, efficient, and sustainable alternative.
Our Modular Buildings (MB3) framework offers public sector clients a fully compliant and streamlined route to a list of trusted suppliers, capable of delivering high-quality, cost-effective modular solutions.
