Forging the future of retrofit at the Sureserve parliamentary reception

Our Director, Rory Evans, and Regional Manager, Boby Singh, attended a key briefing hosted by Margaret Mullane MP. The event spotlighted a national requirement: scaling up skills capacity to meet the low-carbon retrofit and energy compliance challenge.

The launch of Sureserve's new report and framework highlighted the direct link between skills development, achieving decarbonisation targets, and tackling fuel poverty. For LHC, it reinforced the importance of procurement frameworks that are not only compliant but actively designed to build a skilled, capable supply chain. This ethos is embedded in our own processes, highlighted by our frameworks.

Driving local growth at the Lewisham Council Meet the Buyer Event

Sam Whiting, our Technical Support Manager; Eres Tedla Tekeste, our Technical Support Officer; and Rory Evans, our Director, joined a vibrant morning dedicated to empowering local SMEs. The event was a powerful testament to the strength of community-focused procurement.

Cllr Ese Erheriene, Cabinet Member for Business, Jobs and Skills, shared a message that resonated deeply:

“We want more of our local spend to stay local. We want your businesses to grow with us.”

This philosophy aligns with our goal of fostering resilient local supply chains. Presentations on Lewisham’s £20m Housing Retrofit Programme and practical guidance on council procurement provided a clear roadmap for how we can better support clients in engaging local talent and ensuring public money benefits local communities.

Adam Durrance, our Client Support Manager, represented LHC at the UK’s largest gathering of housing professionals. The central theme was clear: meeting future housing needs requires innovative partnerships and collaboration.

Networking with our appointed companies, such as Wates, Bell Group, and Nationwide Windows, offered valuable insights into supply chain capabilities and challenges.
