Volunteering at Lount Wood National Forest – Adam Durrance

Last week, Adam Durrance, Client Support Manager from the Midlands region, had the opportunity to step away from his usual role and spend a day volunteering with The Conservation Volunteers (TCV), a fantastic charity dedicated to improving and protecting green spaces across the UK.  As part of our social value commitment at LHC, every team member receives 1.5 paid volunteer days each year to dedicate to a meaningful cause.

Giving back to nature

Adam’s team headed to Lount Wood National Forest, where he worked on conserving young walnut and cherry trees. The goal was to help these trees grow strong and upright by carefully pruning them. Proper pruning not only supports healthier growth but also ensures the woodland thrives for years to come.

Adam also cleared bridle paths and walking trails, making the forest more accessible for visitors to enjoy. Adam Durrance said, ‘There’s something gratifying about knowing our efforts will help people explore and appreciate this beautiful woodland safely.’

A day well spent

Volunteering with The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) was a refreshing change for Adam, enabling him to connect with nature, work as part of a team, and contribute to a cause that benefits both the environment and the community. It reminded Adam of the importance of preserving these spaces for future generations.

Why the Conservation Volunteers (TCV),
