LHC joins the GO Awards in celebrating excellence in public procurement social value
On 16th May, LHC Procurement Group had the pleasure of sponsoring and attending the UK National GO Awards at the Titanic Hotel, Liverpool.
As the UK’s leading public procurement excellence awards, the GO Awards celebrate the very best in public procurement and the supply chain, and recognises procurement excellence from across the UK’s public, private and third party sector organisations.
LHC were delighted to be sponsoring the Social Value Award, won this year by the London Borough of Waltham Forest Council for their LBWF Wood Street Families and Homes Hub initiative. The project will provide a service centre for the local community which will include a small café on the ground floor, a Families and Homes hub and 67 homes for local people, half of which are allocated as affordable. The hub will help people in an integrated and convenient setting and will provide a meet and greet area, an assessment and interview area with open and private spaces, and a flexible pop-up space showing residents how council services and programmes can help them.
Highly commended entries for the award also included Durham Country Council for The Country Durham Pound, Sellafield Ltd. for Programme and Project Partners at Sellafield, and National Highways for organisation-wide Social Value Plan.
As well as sponsoring the award category, LHC’s Regional Procurement Manager for London and the South East, Paul Smith, also had the honour of serving as a judge on this year’s panel and was extremely impressed by the innovative and impactful projects presented.
Paul said; “Having been past winners of this prestigious award we know firsthand the incredible feeling of sharing a journey and being recognised for commitment and dedication to social value. I have been inspired by the exceptional calibre of submissions this year, all of which reflect a deep commitment to enhancing communities and align closely to LHC’s Social Value goals.”
Paul continued “These awards are testament to the collective drive and determination to create lasting benefits for communities across the UK. My experience as a judge has only reinforced my belief in the power of collaborative efforts to bring about meaningful and impactful change of both individuals and communities.”
LHC strongly believe in giving back to communities, and so the event truly embodies our mission of improving lives and places through our procurement solutions; it is at the very core of everything we do and the foundations in which we build and deliver our frameworks.
Alongside our Community Benefit Fund – which facilities partnerships between our public sector clients and several charities, all of which directly fund social value projects to communities – we have also developed our three-year Social Value Strategy, in partnership with HACT. The strategy defines our Social Value priorities, visions and delivery plan by focusing on three key areas that aims to deliver a meaningful and lasting impact for communities and the people who live within them.
We have been delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of all of those involved in the GO Awards alongside industry leaders and fellow advocates of Social Value, and extend our warmest congratulations to all the winners, finalists and participants of the evening.
