Specialist contractors appointed to £180m roofing framework

More than 100 specialist roofing contractors have won places on a new £180 million framework for the public sector.

The design, supply and installation of roofing and associated works (RS4) framework from LHC allows local authorities, social landlords and other public bodies to source pre-approved local suppliers that provide roofing systems for new builds or refurbishment projects.

The framework is worth up to £100 million in England, £60 million in Scotland and £20 million in Wales. It can be used for public and residential buildings, including schools and universities, high rise multi-occupancy residential buildings and sheltered accommodation.

Dean Fazackerley, LHC group procurement manager, said:

“The large majority of the companies appointed to the framework are SMEs from around the country, all awarded places due to their proven record of high quality work.

“The RS4 framework combines two of LHC’s previous frameworks, Pitched Roofing (PR3) and Flat Roofing (FR2), to provide a consolidated option for contracting authorities and to make it easier to source high quality suppliers for a range of projects.

“The framework also offers contracting authorities much more flexibility as it allows them to combine different elements to create bespoke systems for their projects. They can choose metal tile and liquid systems alongside traditional roofing which also includes copper, lead or zinc aspects for specialist buildings, as well as solar panels.”

Contracting authorities can access flat roofing system manufacturers and their approved installers using workstream one for traditional flat roofing, workstream two for liquid flat roofing, and workstream three for profiled metal roofing. Traditional pitched roofing contractors, providing full design and installation services, can be procured via workstream four.

The framework also includes a mixed roofing ‘super lot’ so that local authorities can source suppliers for projects that have a mix of roofing elements, such as a mix of flat and pitched roofing requirements or metal profile roofs and traditional pitched roofs.
